Battle Royale games are designed to see who’s the best of the best, and they’ve proven incredibly popular in recent years.
Some of the most active games being played right now fall into this category, partly because the development teams continue to support them. With quite a few battle royales out in the world now, though, which are the ones most worth playing?
It’s safe to say that some games have definitely maintained their appeal more than others, with a select few still standing strong to this day. If you want to prove yourself a champion, you’ll want to try your hand at these four titles.
Fortnite
When people think of battle royales, Fortnite is often the first thing that comes to mind.
The game has been a massive hit for the genre, amassing over 350 million players and generating billions in revenue (despite being free-to-play). The cartoon visuals give Fortnite a different atmosphere from other combat titles and are partly why it’s proven so popular with young gamers.
However, that doesn’t make it a kid’s game – far from it. The tactics needed to excel in Fortnite are enough to keep a lot of older players invested. Plus, the resource-gathering and construction elements make the game unique enough to appeal to anyone creatively-minded. It’s stuff like this that allows it to stand proudly alongside other battle royale games without paling in comparison.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, or PUBG, wasn’t designed to give a completely new take on the battle royale format. Instead, it had one clear mission – to do the genre justice.
In its most basic state, PUBG is a standard battle royale title that involves taking out other players to become the last man standing. You might think that would get boring quickly, especially given the game has been out for a while now. However, it manages to stay fresh and relevant through constant updates – including new maps – and realistic gameplay. It offers a more genuine experience than most other battle royales without making things too complex.
PUBG continues to be so popular that many new players struggle to make headway against their skilled competitors. Luckily, anyone who wants to be the best without putting in a lot of work can do so by using the PUBG hacks from IWantCheats. With a minimal risk of detection and the opportunity to effectively take out opponents with the aimbot, you can become a champion in no time.
Tetris 99
Nintendo always loves to do things differently, and that often works to their advantage. Sometimes, it results in disaster, but that’s not the case with Tetris 99.
When this game was released in 2019, it seemingly revolutionised the battle royale format. Whereas the genre had previously been all about combat, this proved it could be just as effective as a puzzle game too.
Highly addictive with a very competitive edge, this version of Tetris gives a whole new take on a beloved classic game. It’s relatively simple, making it easy for anyone to get involved with, but don’t let that fool you. If you want to win, you have to have skill. This is a battle royale that requires excellent dexterity and really pushes your brain to the limits.
Side note: Nintendo’s battle royale follow-up Super Mario Bros. 35 also deserves a shout out for once again offering up a new take on the genre. Unfortunately, given it was only released for a limited time, it’s hard to advertise it as still having appeal.
Call Of Duty: Warzone
Having only been released in 2020, you might not think enough time has passed for people to lose interest in Call of Duty: Warzone. However, given how quickly games come and go nowadays, a year is more than enough time for this title to potentially lose its appeal.
Thankfully, it’s stayed strong, with developers working hard – despite having to do so from home – to keep its 60 million+ players happy. They’ve managed to ensure the game stays fresh with new content, although it already had plenty to keep people entertained from the start.
With the mechanics allowing for aggressive gameplay, as well as plenty of tactical manoeuvres, you can engage in combat however you prefer. The action is also incredibly fast-paced, so there’s little chance of getting bored in a match either. Combine that with the fact that it’s free and you have an opportunity to respawn after being killed, and it’s no wonder this continues to be such a big hit. That’s quite an achievement, given how many games the Call of Duty franchise has pumped out now.
Games come and go, but for these battle royale titles, the end is nowhere in sight. They continue to appeal to millions of players every day, so if you’re looking for something to play, these should be well worth your time.
