Lego Starwars: The Skywalker Saga

There has been a 3-year hiatus since the last lego game, a gap that has prompted an overhaul of the gameplay elements that will apply to the newest title. Notable changes include combat which has remained largely the same for over 15 years. The Skywalker Saga will allow playable versions of all nine Starwars films in unison and can be bought via Steam for around the £40 mark.

There’s certainly a simple beauty to the games in the Lego series, and this pairs really well with the storylines encapsulated within the Starwars films. You certainly know what you’re getting with this one, a definite must buy for fans that will provide hours of easy-going fun.

Sephonie

Sephonie is the work of Japanese game developers Melos Han-Tani & Marine Kittaka. This one is certainly a little less easy to define than the Lego Starwars title we just looked at but it seems to include a more arcade game style in essence.

Add this arcade-style gameplay to a more surreal, pastel-coloured world which allows you to play both 2D and 3D elements and you start to understand what Sephonie will be. Players run, jump and wall ride their way through an abstract world, playing mini-games as they go. Also available via Steam with the price yet to be confirmed, this game leaves a little more to the imagination than most releases. Be sure to find out more when it does drop.

Turbo Overkill

In short, this title is fantasy madness. Crafted by Trigger Happy Interactive studios, the trailer shows the (cyborg) main character, Johnny Turbo, fashioning a sawn-off shotgun using their chainsaw leg as a tool to do so.

The story sees the aforementioned Mr Turbo on a quest to rid Paradise city of a rogue AI which goes by the name of Syn. The graphics are intense and eye-catching, gameplay is frantic and varied. All things considered, this is a pretty exciting title. You can grab this one via (yes you guessed it) Steam, or GOG and the release date is 22nd April 2022.

King Arthur: Knight’s Tale

If you like tactic based RPGs, this is undeniably a really cool title. Set in medieval Britain, you get to play as Sir Mordred and are tasked with leading your knights on a quest to kill the evil King Arthur in order to prevent him turning the United Kingdom into a twisted dystopian land. A lot of the gameplay is centred around battles, with your knights wielding huge swords on enemies – inflicting damage when deployed.

In King Arthur: Knight’s Tale You’ll face a vast range of foes on your quest to topple the King. This game has actually been on pre-release for a while as it’s a Kickstarter funded project (developed by Neocore games) but full release is April.
